Meet Mr. Brittain:

I was born and raised in Wichita, KS and have no desire to be anywhere else.   I attended Wichita State and graduated in 1991 with a Bachelors in General Studies and minors in psychology, sociology and administration of justice.  During my last semester at WSU, I had the opportunity to work at Wells Special Day School.  This one rather significant experience sparked my interest in education.  After getting married and having a child (actually my wife had our child), I decided to return to school and get my teaching certification.  After 2 1/2 more years of school, here I am -- and very pleased to be at such an awesome school.

What makes me "tick?"  Besides teaching, I love to be outside.  In the summer, my wife and I water ski and enjoy watching Brooke -- our daughter -- at the swimming pool.  When the sun ceases to shine and the cold, north wind begins to blow, I enjoy hunting.  The greatest thing about my "outdoor activities" is that I (or we) are away from everything.  It is not the lake water which is "glass" or the pasture in which I bagged two pheasant and a quail but the beauty of nature and just getting away that relaxes me most.

IT'S AUCTION TIME!

Yes, believe it or not, it is time to start planning for the Annual Riverside PTO Auction which will be held April 7.  This year is particularly exciting as the auction will be moving back to its original home, Riverside Magnet School.  We will still have all the same stuff, including the silent auction, dinner, a performance by the Virtuoso Voices, and the Live auction with childcare provided by the honor choir students.

For now, teachers are deciding on what kind of baskets they want to donate for the auction.  Ask your child what their classroom has decided on and make a special trip to acquire things that you can contribute.  If you would like to help solicit donations, set up, clean up or help with dinner the night of the auction, please contact Christy Reeves at 265-9750.
